Injury Management

Care+ takes the time and attention to ensure that your child gets the care they need in a clean and comfortable environment. We strive to treat the following injuries while also making sure your child remains calm and comfortable.

Sprains and Strains

Sprains involve the stretching or tearing of ligaments, while strains refer to damage to the muscles and attaching tendons. These injuries can occur during organized sports or just playing in the backyard with friends. Strains can also occur due to overuse of the ligament.

For children with sprains and strains, we provide the following services and medical devices:

  • Digital X-rays

  • Walking boots

  • Splinting

  • Slings

  • Crutches

In addition to your child’s walking boot, splint, sling or crutches, we will provide you with detailed instructions on when to use these devices and how long to use them.

Cuts and Scrapes

Cuts and scrapes are common but can worry parents when they are deep or extensive. Deep wounds may require extra care, including stitches or wound dressing, and our staff is ready for all wounds in need more attention than a Band-Aid, including:

  • Stitches

  • Cleaning and dressing of wounds

  • Pain control

We’ll also explain your child’s treatment plan and healing process, so you can feel comfortable and confident after your visit. But if you have any questions after you leave, don’t be shy! We’re happy to answer any questions you may have about your child’s injury.

Minor Traumas

Minor traumas don’t always feel minor, and Care+ is ready to offer:

  • Cleaning and dressing of wounds

  • Minor burn management

  • Head injury/concussion evaluation

  • Pain control

During your appointment, please ask questions about the healing process and treatment plan. We’re happy to discuss any concerns you may have so you feel confident when you leave our office.

Follow-Up

After your injury appointment with us, we’ll likely recommend you follow up with your child's primary pediatrician, or we may refer you to a specialist. We will provide all information about your child's Care+ visit to your child's primary pediatrician, including X-rays and test results. We are also happy to arrange a follow-up visit with us, if you prefer.
